Fletcher has met Harvey, although hungry at the time and all is well, weight wise he was just under 3.5KGs, all is progressing well, thanks to all those who have wished us well on here, facebook and all those other sites
As I sit here in the room I was once with Fletcher at 23 weeks gestation I am reminded of the last few years and especially the last 9 months… and the value of life, babies, joys and sufferings that life can bring.
This website started due to joy that in a way turned to sadness and then back to joy again. We celebrated with your Fletcher’s triumphs as well as many times that seemed to have no end…. And now I suppose our lives and FLetcher’s lives takes a new step next week with the addition of our lovely new bubby!!
At the moment I am on 4 hourly obs with blood pressure, swelling and checks for protein the main purpose. They are checking for pre-eclampsia and making sure that all stays in tack til Tuesday. I havent seen the doc yet today but he has spoken to the nurses etc. and bed rest is the call of the day!
And whilst I rest in bed, Nana and Daddy are from resting taking on full time duties with Fletcher. There is kind of a guilty feel sitting here not doing anything but I know in the long run it is best for us all to have bubs as healthy as possible. If you’re around the neighbourhood of Nana’s house any time this week give her a bell and have a cuddle of Fletcher to give her a little rest, Im sure he would love it as I know Nana would too….
And now I have run out of things to say. I was goingto try and be all poetic and reminiscint (and I cant even spell it) and try and fill in a big blog but thats not going to work!!
Thank you to Marlene for my first phone call! You were one of the 1st to see FLetcher in 6b and this time round the 1st to phone in!! Hehe Thank you muchly.
I can’t believe the technology these days! I have wireless internet whoohoo, facebook alert and scrabble alert I have stuff to do! WHOOHOO oh yeah and rest!
Hope you are all well and we look forward to sharing our news of Boris’ birth!
Love to All
KRistina
Well a lots been going on I guess…. most recent news is Kristina turned into an impatient at SJOG in Subi, all is well at present with Fletchers brother and she is expected to depart tomorrow AM.
June 8th is the day of our latest additon (hopefully we get there).
We received the quote for Fletchers bike, around $850 so not so bad in the end…
Fletcher now has a new Physio from the CP Association, we had a good run there for a while so lets hope it continues.
The iPad and Fletcher go very well together, he loves it…
We received his report back from the Center for the Blind and unfortunately at this point it would appear that he has 15% vision but until he can communicate with us there is still no real verdict, just another battle for the poor little bugger.
So there’s a months worth of stuff in a nutshell.
More news in the days/weeks ahead.
Here it is, Fletcher on his loan bike from the CP Association (the $350 version, not the $1500 one….) If you right click on the video and select ‘view on youtube’ you can then select 480p which is better quality, can’t seem to get an embedded video with that setting.
<start rant> these companies that build these products, not the cheap version, the custom one) know how to take the advantage of those least able to defend themselves…
Case in point… Jellybean button from US = $40 USD, from AU = $70-100)
<end rant>.
Well as I sit here late at night (10pm)… THATS LATE FOR ME…. I thought I may as well post a post to you all to let you know the ins and outs of the Garrett life …
Firstly I must say what a clever little man our Fletcher boy is!! He was asleep tonight within minutes of his head hitting his pillow! Something that he has found rather hard to do of late as he has had these what we think are ‘miochonic’ ?? Jerking movements that keep him awake sometimes up to over an hour… and it’s not like he is not trying to go to sleep the poor little man, its just that these jerking movements disturb his deepness of sleep.. well thats what we reckon…
Sooooo., we went for a botox check up! Which all seemed good.. botox did work… we will however still be put in touch with a orthopaedic surgeon that will discuss options for us ‘if needed’ for down the track… Which lead us once again onto the weight issue of Fletcher’s. He has pretty much failed to put on any weight in a year.. which isnt so good. So I decided it was time to put my ‘a’ into gear once again and start feeding him proper food again! Nana helped out with this again by making up a batch of chicken and vegies… im yet to learn the fine art of steaming chicken… We’re not sure about the weight side of things, but FLetcher is loving his new food and his jerking has seemed to quieten down somewhat… which is why we think tonights efforts were so successful! Maybe that, and 3 days in a row of ‘walking around the park’ in his walker… may have tired him out! PLUS we have had daddy home for 3 days tiring him out a lot better than what mummy can do these days.
Talking of me, the CS day is possibly the 8th June so it’s not that far away at all! We are still to get FLetcher out of mummy and daddy’s bed and into his own but as Barb says, there is always tomorrow night……… But no we are onto it,… drawers have been moved, clothes have started to be sorted and well we even framed Fletcher’s first bit of artwork today to hang in his ‘new’ room so that will be good! we decided to move fletcher into the room nearest the bathroom for future needs of walking to and from the bathroom (hopefully)…………………….
I am at 32 weeks now… still feeling a little under the weather at times… well most times. Breathing is hard is certain sitting, standing or lying positions…. One minute I feel ok the next Im short of breath and need to move.. it’s all very weird. Poor Nana is having to deal with my ‘turns’ aswell as daddy but she is a lot more understanding although at times i think she wishes i would just stop already!! Nana really has been (again) a rock for me to lean on. Im not sure how I would be doing what Im doing without her…. We love her sooooo very much and she just does things for us without even thinking twice about herself… wow i do love her… thanks mum!
We have been told that these ‘turns’ so to speak are not harming the baby, but again we just hope we get to the 8th June and all goes according to plan this time.
Fletcher still continues with his physio and Conductve ed, and goes to chiro too! He hasnt been in Nana’s spa lately … hmm which reminds me maybe we should have one this week when we’re there! hehe He loves them so much adn esp the shower after he just squeals when the water runs over him! hehe so cute to see!
The front lawn and garden is almost complete! We are doing one garden bed at a time, and almost there! Hopefully before the 8th of JUne! We are very happy with it! And the lawn is soft and looks great!
We had a little visit from amelia and Natalie last week which was great! Amelia is sooo very cute and her hair just stands up like she’s been in one of those thingies in Scitech! SHhe is starting to get a real personality and persisting she has her own ways lol but still very cute!! A little hard to watch her milestones as Fletcher still struggles with his own, but we are lucky that Fletcher has sucha beautiful little cousin that he gets to play with and be an advocate for loving people no matter what circumstances are presnted to you!
