Some Technical Issues…

There were a few technical issues with thegarretthome.com domain, these should now be fixed… on a Fletcher note, he’s doing well, bouncing around all day tiring us both out… well Kristina’s tired anyway and walks around with a ’spew’ bucket, fun times :)

Tomorrow we find out if I was right and it’s twins… results of the scan on here tomorrow sometime :P

I’m Going to be a big brother!

Just thought I would post on here to ya’ll and tell you our news (if you haven’t already heard!) that I am going to be a big brother sometime in June next year!
Mummy has been very sick vomitting here there and everywhere, but is hoping it ALL stops in a couple of weeks at the magic 12 week mark!
SHe goes for her first scan at the doctor’s on Monday and she is very excited. She is just a little bit tired of not being able to eat right but can’t wait for a milkshake! hehe I have discovered that I LOVE milkshakes too! Especially Krispy Kreme ones!!

We had a great time in NZ and I discovered daddy’s shoulders are a great place to travel!

Hope you are all well…..
LOve to All

Well it’s been a long time hasnt it?

Well so much has happened so much to report! You will probably be falling off your chair realising that finally there is a post here! OMG hey!
Well firstly a very HAPPY birthday to my lovely GREAT PA!!! He had a lovely day up North with Aunty Sue And Uncle Tim and Laura and then had a lovely roast with mummy, daddy, Poppy, Nanna and me!! I think he’s pretty lucky to have such a lovely family but WE are the lucky ones having him in our lives too!

So much to tell you…. where should I start?
Umm well daddy is looking into getting the photos back up so that would be nice, but don’t go looking yet ONLY baby baby ones of me! Im a big boy now!! But yeah keep an eye on that cause he may be new ones soon!

Im not sure if I let you all know about my ‘cortical visual impairment’ part of the effects of my CP. Here is some info taken from a website ( if i have already posted this I am sorry but it is there for a reminder i suppose)
A large percentage of children with cerebral palsy also have CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment). In fact, 80% of children with cerebral palsy also have CVI.
The definition: Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) refers to visual impairment due to damage to the visual cortex, the posterior visual pathways or both.

One of the major causes of CVI is asphyxia, meaning that the oxygen supply to the brain was at some point disrupted. Because the visual cortex part of the brain is furthest from the main blood supply (which is how oxygen reaches the brain), the visual cortex is most vulnerable in case of interruption of oxygen. When oxygen is not allowed to get to the brain other areas are also affected which is why CVI rarely occurs on its own without other problems.

Mummy, nanna and I went to the Blind Ass on Friday and we very much enlightened by a very nice eye doctor lady!! She said I was a cheeky chop! ME? never!! But she did a few tests on me to see what I could see, and how I used my eyes to see what I could see! She said I liked to use my peripheral vision to help me see what was in front of me, that I could see people in front of me, but smaller moving objects needed to be closer to me for me to be able to see them! It was a very informative morning and we will be going back there in 4 months!

I have been eating very well! Still on mashed type food but loads of it! Pity that it doesnt look like im putting the weight on! Dont you wish you had that problem, mummy does! hehe I eat a weetbix for morning and a bowl of mashed vegies at lunch and a banana, and then a bowl of food for dinner and then maybe some apple!! And dont forget my 3 bottles of milk!! I think Im getting taller and taller but still weigh about 10kilos!!

Did I also tell you that I go to a home day care in Settlers Hills now on a Wednesday! I CRY SO VERY MUCH when mummy leaves but Carmel says to mummy (man she dobbed me in) that as soon as mummy reaches the car i stop! Did that lady call me a cheeky chops? Hmm maybe Carmel thinks I am one too! hehe I do very well there without mummy and it gives nana a nice break inthe middle of the week to rest up for my days!! hehe

We are off to NZ so very soon!! So excited! I am very good on the plane but I will be tested this time for the length of it all!! hmmm I shall keep you posted!

What else to tell you? Mummy is now teaching Kindy on Tuesday, Wed, and tHursday….. Daddy working hard on SAP at his same job…. me, I love Bewitched and Ollie (he sings a cool days of teh week song on NicJunior!) what else….. Nana and poppy had their gutters done hehe, hmmm what else about MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I am still going to conductive Ed and chiro! And I even got some money as a grant from the govt! Nice going I say!! I did a painting at daycare and mummy is doing more drawing with me at home! Next on the list is an art easel for mummy at home to do my own painting with her! Maybe on the holidays we could give it a try!!

Ive had a couple of nose bleeds, :( and i stil like to scratch my face! nana had tos tick a bandaid on my face tonight so im not looking my usual cute self! Or am I more than my cute self as Ive got the ‘ive got a baindaid on my face dont you feel sorry for me look?’

Im going strong in my walker, better andbetter every day! And my friend Barbara and some of her friends and her hubby Andy are doing the CPEC walkathon in Melbourne…

http://www.everydayhero.com.au/walk_dont_run

and she is using me as her motivation! TEAM Fletcher will try and walk 10kms to help raise money for CPEC which is an organisation to help children like me but in Melbourne. Barbara and her friends (hello cara) had a ladies afternoon when they tried to raise more money to go along with teh money already donated for the walk!! THe winner of this raffle is going to be told on here so we shall look out for the big congrats soon! We, the Garretts would like to give a big cuddle of thanksto Barbara and the rest of team fletcher and can’t wait to hear how the race goes and we can even add pictures for you all to see now that daddy has fixed it up!

Well I better go to sleep it’s getting late! Hoepfully I wont wake mummy and daddy up too much tonight! Im only sleeping about a metre away from mummy but I still feel the need to wake her up at least twice a night!! (thats a good night)

Take care all and I hope this finds you well!

Big cuddles to you Anmar!! Thinking of you!

Love Fletcher x x x x x x
